Public discussions on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan took place in Kostanay.
The event was organized on the initiative of the Civil Alliance of Kostanay region. Nuclear industry experts, deputies of local maslikhats, representatives of public councils, veterans’ councils, non-governmental organizations, energy workers, and active citizens of the region took part in the discussions.
Residents of the Kostanay region were interested in how the safety of the nuclear power plant would be ensured, and whether the construction of the nuclear power plant would affect the environment. Questions were also asked regarding the availability of personnel to work at nuclear power plants. Nuclear industry experts answered questions from local residents and focused on the safety and environmental friendliness of modern nuclear technologies.
